| How dtSearch works — More Info |
|
| Display
When
dtSearch displays a retrieved document,
it refers to the original document,
using information in the index to
locate hits. For example, to display
a file indexed with the dtSearch
Spider, dtSearch Desktop will return
to the Web site to access the document.
|
dtSearch
returned to www.frb.gov
to display this document
indexed by the dtSearch
Spider.
|
dtSearch
displays HTML through a browser
interface, including highlighted
hits and fully-functional embedded
links and images.
dtSearch
displays PDF through a combination
browser / Adobe Reader interface,
showing images along with highlighted
hits. To avoid delays in displaying
long Web-based PDF files, dtSearch
will first download only the page
with the "hit" highlighted. dtSearch
will then download additional pages
as the user browses through the
document.

When
dtSearch displays a retrieved document
in any other format – XML,
Unicode, ZIP, word processor, database,
spreadsheet, etc. – it converts
it "on-the-fly" to HTML for browser
display with highlighted hits.
